National Child Protection Training Center

The National Child Protection Training Center strives to significantly reduce and seek an end to child abuse, neglect and all other forms of child maltreatment in three generations through education, training, awareness, prevention, advocacy and the pursuit of justice. The Center promotes reformation of current training practices by providing an educational curriculum to current and future front-line child protection professionals around the nation so that they will be prepared to recognize and report the abuse of a child.

Today, an incredible number of suspected child abuse, maltreatment and neglect cases are not being reported or investigated by professionals. The CAST curriculum is a response to this problem. "Unto the Third Generation: A Call to End Child Abuse in the United States within 20 Years" by Victor Vieth (2006), provides a blue print for a plan to educate child protection professionals for the 21st Century. Vieth proposes that universities must be the "keepers" of the plan to educate front line professionals and describes the obstacles the nation faces in ending child abuse.
